Please enjoy watching my first free video demonstration and tutorial series of creating a fully fleshed out high resolution 3D character model for games or film.
Each 15 minute segment runs at 4x speed, and represents an hour of work. This video series will show you pretty much every step I take, and includes Maya (for modeling the base mesh), RoadKill (for UV Mapping), and Mudbox (sculpting and painting). I might also show TopoGun (for retopologizing the model), but I’m not sure yet.
I’ve already recorded about 15 hours of footage, and the base mesh is nearly completed. I’ll edit and upload more footage as soon as I can, life permitting. The footage will all be on my Youtube channel (MatthewDoyleArt) and embedded in this post as well.
This first segment covers the initial mesh creation of the leg, arm, and torso using a box modeling technique. This also happened to be my “getting acquainted” with Maya model, so as I learn the tools, you learn them. Happy watching!
