Hunting Party - Rough Block-in
| I got the urge to paint tonight, and decided to use my Salamander Warrior sketch as the basis for my new painting. I’m using Corel Painter X this time. I wanted to create something with a very painterly and dramatic lighting look to it. I’ll be keeping screenshots of each phase. This image shows the painting at the rough blocking in stage. I have determined my setting, light placement, and major landmarks. I used the digital artist oils in Painter, mostly the Wet Oily Palette Knife, the Wet Oily Impasto, and the Mixer Thin Flat brushes. I’m using the complementary colors orange and blue as the main tone of the image, along with some green and a little violet. the piece will depict an alien hunting party. Whom are they hunting you ask? I haven’t figured that out yet. I’ll let the painting tell me that as it progresses. |
